Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it"

Arise Christian Child Care is a blessing.  The child care has been a bless-bless situation. If you can relate to a win-win situation you should be able to relate to a bless-bless situation. We bless each other.  We love each other. That really says it all. (Read the welcome on the home page for more understanding.)  God put it on my spirit to open a Christian child care business. And because of His presence everyday it is now a child care ministry. I did not know what to expect. I just knew that it was imperative that all who are looking for a child care for their little ones know that at this child care we will praise the Lord, sing praises to the Lord, quote scriptures, read bible stores about Jesus and pray, as it is written in Matthew 6:6, “Pray to your Father”.

The child care is on two levels.  The first floor where we congregate and have meals and the lower level is the children’s classroom. They have many resources available to them in the classroom. If they learned only the educational information on the walls they would be more than ready for school.  In addition there are five working computers, two can access the internet and they have plenty of educational software options available to them. I personally believe it is fundamentally important that a child be intelligent and a good citizen as well. You may ask what a good citizen is. A good citizen shows their good fruit. “The fruit of the spirit is love, joy peace, forbearance, kindness goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Simply put displaying the fruit of the spirit as written in Galatians 5: 22-23.

“We must train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” Proverbs 22:6.

I was talking to my good friend Betty who lives in Michigan, my hometown.  At that time she had been in the child care business for five years. I told her that I needed to discover what I wanted to do with my life that would line up with God’s will.  And that I was exhausted with working for other people and trying to comply with their policies and business practices that I did not respect.  She suggested AGAIN that I open a child care.  This time I started giving the idea serious consideration.

I talked to my pastor, he said the magic words.  “Fran, this could be a ministry for you.”  My spirit lit up when he said those words. That is where the dream of the child care started. I went to orientation class and got all the information to get started.  I booked my classes for CPR, first aid, to be fingerprinted and a background check.  I was taking the steps to make the child care ministry come to fruition.  In the mean time, things on my job were pretty rocky. I was hoping that I would have time to stay on my job until I was ready to open the child care.  What was I thinking?  The builder was bitter toward me because I reported a complaint to my broker about him making sexual slurs about his wife and other women. Needless to say, I was fired. It would have been perfect timing for me if I would have worked there for two more months.  The process that took the longest time in getting licensed with the state was fingerprinting which was said to be 60 days.  By the Grace of God it took only 45 days. God was working His timing.

I was fired on a Thursday, by Saturday morning I had figured out my plan.  I was laying in bed very happy that I didn’t have to go to work. I was happy that I had a plan.  I was happy I was expecting my tax return in a few weeks.  Plus I was going to make this plan work.  When God is in your plan you have what is called God-confidence.

THEN the telephone rang. It was a call from home, Michigan. It was my cousin calling to tell me that her sister, my favorite cousin/sister, my ace boon coon, my friend since I was six months old. She had a car accident and was in a coma. Overwhelming feelings of bitter sweet came over me.  The bitter was that my cousin was in a coma and I had to get to Michigan right away and the sweet was that I was FREE to go.  I had no job so I didn’t have to ask anyone if I could have the time off to go.  I am sure the answer would have been no and I would have gone anyway and I probably would have been fired anyway. There was no employer drama.  Amen

When I returned from Michigan, I stayed on the plan.  I prayed to God to help me with everything I needed to equip the child care.  He told me loud and clear to call everyone I know and let them know I am opening a child care and ask them if they had any children toys or equipment they would donate.  And they did.  Within a few weeks I had everything I needed. My friend Betty was at a seminar in Maryland for a day and she popped over and we went to a school supply store and she bought and put on the classroom walls all sorts of colorful educational information for the children.

Things were really shaping up.

I prayed for THE NAME. Finally the name Arise Christian Child Care came into my spirit. A friend thought if I named it a Christian child care I would not attract people that have different religious beliefs. There was no consideration for me not to put His name on the business. I knew this business belonged to God and His name would be on it and His Spirit will dwell within it. As it is written in Joshua 24:15b, “but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

I would like to be in agreement with you that, if the devil is leaving us alone we are not making strides in the Kingdom.  I did not know the validity of that statement when I first opened the child care, but oh boy I sure know it now.  Satan will try to stop your blessing and try to stop you from being a blessing to others as well.

Arise Christian Child Care opened April 4, 2000. On the 15th on a Saturday, I started cleaning up the outside. I was so excited about this brand new start. I already had one little one enrolled in the program. I was full of optimism. I wanted the outside of the house to look as neat and clean as possible. So I borrowed one of my neighbor’s lawnmower to get the job done.

THEN I slipped and fell on the side of the house on the incline and my left foot went under the lawnmower. I could not look.  I grabbed my foot the shoe was tore up but still in place and I called until someone heard my cry.  Thank God my yard was not fenced in yet because the neighbor who came to rescue me said he saw me mowing then he didn’t see me which made him

take notice. The neighbors performed first aid and called 911. In the emergency truck the tech said to me that I would probably lose part of my foot. How dare he talk to me that way? I was hot with Holy anger and determined that what he said was untrue and would not come to fruition.  I called my pastor told him what was said and we prayed.  I figured out later that the lawn-mower accident was an attempt by the enemy to stop the child care from going into the future. THEN came the second attempt to convince me that I was going to lose part of my foot, because scripture says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” Proverbs 23:7. The enemy wanted to convince me that my foot, even while it was still there not amputated, that it would eventually be amputated. (Think about it. Has anyone ever planted a negative seed in your heart that manifested a negative result?)

It was by the Grace of God that only my big toe was broken with four lacerations. NO amputations. This was a miracle to the doctors in the orthopedic division at Union Memorial Hospital.  They told me there was almost always an amputation from a lawnmower accident. Satan thought that eleven days of Arise Christian Child Care was more then enough. And if I had an amputated foot I would be so devastated that I would be depressed and give up my dream. You see the enemy doesn’t want the little children to come to Jesus. He wants the little children to come to him.  The enemy wants to stop the children from knowing the Lord, loving the Lord, singing His Praises, and quoting scriptures, he will always try to block those Holy Ghost activities from manifesting. Scripture says, “The thief cometh not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10.

The doctors took x-rays, stitched up the lacerations, put an ugly shoe on my foot, gave me some crutches, told me it was a miracle that no tendons were cut, gave me a check up appointment and sent me home.

Imagine how shocked little Tanya’s mother was to see me at the door wearing a surgical shoe and standing with crutches, with an unbelievable story about an old lawn mower accident and yet I was ready to fulfill my commitment to take care of her little one. There was so much trust between her and me from when we worked together years earlier, that when I said I could take care of her baby in my condition, she believed I could and I did.

One morning while on the floor with little Tanya, playing with her, TBN was on the TV. (Trinity Broadcasting Network, in case you haven’t heard of this station, it is exclusively a Christian station)  Suddenly, all these interesting looking feet, some bare, some with shoes some with boots danced, walked and ran across the screen. THEN this amazing scripture ran across the screen like a ticker tape sign interestingly enough three or four times. I had never seen this scripture before. It read “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10:15. I got so excited. I reached for my Bible and looked up this scripture. This was a Rhema Word from God for me.  (A RHEMA Word from God is a portion of scripture that speaks to a believer, directly to them at this specific time for their specific situation.) This was my new scripture I was going to stand on. No pun intended. I reflected back to something the technician said while she was stitching the lacerations on my foot.  She gave me a complement and said your feet are pretty.  The Bible says that the feet of those who preach the Gospel of Jesus are beautiful. This reminds me of something my mom use to quote, “Beauty is as beauty does.”   You see beauty is as beauty does, also apply to our feet. So if you really want beautiful feet, preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things.

It took 5 months for me to heal and begin interviewing with families. As the child care grew in numbers I realized what faith is. If God said it was going to happen it was going to happen. At each stage of the child care growth, I was amazed at how the people I was meeting had so much love and trust in me.  If you are in the Word of God you recognize it as God’s Love. Other than that they call it “good energy” Whatever you call it is alright with me.

I hope you found this interesting.  I enjoyed going down memory lane and revisiting the emotions I experienced over the years.  And thinking about the diverse interesting children I have had a chance to love and care for. As of today August 11, 2011, there has been 106 children enrolled in Arise Christian Child Care.

God Bless You.
